After stitching almost all day yesterday and part of today, this canvas is finished.

Yellowstone vacation

Just got back from a week in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. What fun! Great family bonding. Actually saw alpha male wolf #755 of the Lamar Valley pack. So cool!

Only had a little time to stitch as we were very busy sightseeing. Did finish this 4" x 4" Jean Smith lily.



Worked entirely with DMC Color Variations.

More Jane Sassaman

Here's another example of Jane's fabric that could be interpreted into a beautiful canvas. I love the dots in the leaves.

Just discovered www.janesassaman.com. LOVE her fabric. Especially this fabric above from her Early Birds line. Wouldn't it make a great painted canvas? I love the way the greens in the leaves change from light to dark and every little space in the background is filled with something interesting to look at. I can see the spiky flowers done with Frosty Rays with French knots in the centers and the smaller white and pink flowers done with ribbonwork.




Here is another fabric from the same line. Notice how each leaf is half dark and half medium green with the light veins and the ripply light edges. And even the irregularly spaced green dots in the background draw you in.

I think loving fabric and loving needlepoint goes together so well because so many of the design elements overlap.

A Few More Petals

I worked a few more of the lighter colored petals last night with Iced Lavender and Moonglow. BTW, I was wrong yesterday when I said the background was Dawn. It is actually a much lighter version of Moonglow.
